I am staying at PAF in St.Erme in France for a couple of weeks, working on my next photobook called "yellow". Paf is a cheap residency for artists from all over the world, located in a small village close to the champagne-district. The place was originally a monastery for nuns.

I spent Easter at my cabin. made homemade crispbread and read crime novels like a usually do during Easter holiday. I planted cress seeds on wet cotton as well; they grow up within a week. Every child in day care make this for Easter.

Here are photos from the rest of my trip to Japan; Mt.Fuji, Kyoto and Kinosaki. What a weird country! But of course wonderful and beautiful, would love to go back, especially in the spring to see the cherry blossom.What I loved most was the Onsen-public bath/hot springs experience.I went to 9 different ones, and I got totaaly addicted to them.Back in Norway I´m visiting public baths with hot pools and saunas every week, but it´s not the same.I also quite liked the variety of vending machines and all the single packets of every thing-almost opposite to Canada where everything comes in gigantic family packs.

I´m sorry that some of the photos are a bit crazy-looking.I guess I´m somewhat affected by Japan and it feels good to play and experiment with photography again. Everything here is so vivid and saturated. Japan is so full of contrast.

I spent a week in Croatia in May. Third time I'm visiting Hvar island, which is one of my favorite places in the world. Very calming and relaxing, with crystal clear water and wild growing herbs.

Strofe is growing bigger

Strofe is getting bigger every week,he is about 5- 6 months old.
We just started taking him outside (he's been inside our apartment all his life), and soon he'll be running around with other city cats.

Frozen lake on a sunny day

These photos were taken at Hamar and shows Mjøsa, Norway's longest lake.
This is the area where I grew up, and I remember ice fishing with my family when I was little (the guy with the bike is carrying equipment to go ice fishing!) .My sister lost her cell phone a couple of years ago, slipping out while she was bending over the small hole in the ice..oops!
The photo of a tall sculpture is a Glockenspiel, that plays music every hour.Quite neat.

I've made 3 photo books through blurb.com.It's really easy and fairly cheap to make self-published books.I love book projects! It keeps me inspired and focused when I photograph,because I'm constantly considering each image (or shoot) as part of a bigger story.

I've been busy with work and I just moved to a new, wonderful and huge apartment.
Fall is so beautiful when the weather is good and when I've got time to enjoy the outside. I love that I can use my wool sweaters again and drink warm tea and coffee when I get cold from the wind or rain showers. I love that I can lit lots of candles to make it cozy when it's dark outside (nowadays it's dark from 5pm to 8am, but it will get darker every day until mid December). Don't you?

A long time ago I was one of the finalists in a portrait competition for PDN (photo district news, a famous photo magazine and website from new york).
I've been waiting for them to launch the winners gallery, and today I found it when I went to their website. Check it out, lots of great photos!
I hope they publish pdn faces 2009 in the next magazine issue as well (which would be the October issue), because then I can have a printed proof of it.

Children are my favourite subject to photograph, and they inspire me and always make me feel better.I think I sometimes prefer spending time with children above adults- which probably makes me a very childish person? Life as a child is just more joyful and simple!

I love Fall; the colours are muted and analogous and the light is beautiful (light during winter time is still my favorite,though..). I like wearing comfy clothes and wool sweathers, and I love fresh picked vegetables and fruit from the gardens.

Lofoten

I just came home from Lofoten and I had a fantastic trip! The light up in North is often hazy and misty because of the humid weather conditions. The landscape is dramatic and powerful, and makes everything look magical and almost surreal (like is this real? Am I really standing here surrounded by these beautiful mountains and the ocean and fjords?) We ate a lot of fish, took a lot of ferries, got wet all the time and saw the midnight sun once! I even went swimming a couple of times! Kind of chilly, but after some whisky it seemed just fine. Here is a small selection of photos I took on the trip.

Pam, a friend from Canada have been visiting me for a week.We are going on a trip up north to Lofoten together. We are catching the night train tonight actually! My backpack is so heavy,carrying the tent and my camera equipment and lots of candy (just in case I can't find a candy store..)and everything. Here are some photos from where I grew up. I love my childhood memories from growing up at a farm on the country side. I'm a city girl now, but I still appreciate (and need) some peace and quiet time every one in a while.

Frognerbadet,Oslo

Someone diving from 10m at the coolest and most retro public outdoor swimming bath I know: Frognerbadet.
It's inside the famous sculpture park in Oslo, Frognerparken also called Vigelandsparken (after the artist Vigeland). The park has outdoor swimming pools, lots of green piknik area, trees, icecream and fast food, volleyball, concerts at nighttime ( Norwegian Wood music festival in June), underwater windows and a water slide. It was first opened in 1956, and has kept the retro look.
worthwhile a visit! It's just a nostalgic place, and I'm very weak for anything nostalgic/romantic.Places like Frognerbadet gives me memories of a happy childhood.

A couple of days ago a national newspaper called Nationen (mainly about agriculture, but also a daily newspaper) interviewed my sister about some political debate (she's an organic pig farmer), and I took some photos of her and the pigs instead of the newspaper having to send a photographer. They only used one photo (the one in colour), but it was fun to see both our names on the same page! I attached a b&w series from the photo shoot as well.It's been very warm weather recently, so we have used the water sprinkler to cool down the animals.The pigs love water!

Some friends of mine got married!

Some theater friends of mine got married last weekend, and I photographed the wedding . The ceremony was in the woods by a river and a waterfall! Very dramatic and romantic. The dinner and the party was at a theater with 200 guests and lots of entertainment. The wedding was beautiful and it was great to see so many friends that I haven't seen in such a long time again.

new blog, new country

Since I'm not a student at ACAD anymore, it's time to get a new blog. I've temporarily moved home to Norway, but my plan is to move out to Vancouver in Canada next year. I'm in the middle of getting started with freelance work for Norwegian magazines at the moment. I also try to spend as much time as possible with friends and family as I can (especially my dad who is sick with terminal cancer- the main reason I moved back home to Norway) - I've got a lot of catching up after 4 years away studying (Bachelor of Design- photography at ACAD in Calgary, Canada). I'm currently staying at my cabin on a small island just outside Oslo- it's my paradise!
